FOR PETS & PEOPLE

HEALING SANCTUARY

Our mission is to create a healing sanctuary where both pets and people can thrive together, transforming lives through holistic care, education, and compassionate support.

ADDICTED2PETS NONPROFIT

We are dedicated to raising awareness about Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS) and providing recovery resources to individuals overcoming substance abuse disorders.

By integrating animal rescue, rehabilitation, and vocational training, we foster a nurturing environment that empowers participants and saves the lives of pets in need. Together, we believe in the power of connection, holistic wellness, and the profound bond between humans and animals.

Holistic Healing for Humans and Animals:

Addicted 2 Pets is not just about rescuing animals; it’s about rescuing lives. We recognize the incredible healing potential that exists when people and animals come together, especially for those recovering from substance abuse disorders. Our approach is rooted in holistic care, where we address not only the physical needs but also the emotional and psychological well-being of both our human and animal participants.

ANIMAL RESCURE & REHABILITATION:

Addicted 2 Pets is not just about rescuing animals; it’s about rescuing lives. We recognize the incredible healing potential that exists when people and animals come together, especially for those recovering from substance abuse disorders. Our approach is rooted in holistic care, where we address not only the physical needs but also the emotional and psychological well-being of both our human and animal participants.

COMMUNITY COUNSELING & SUPPORT GROUPS:

We host weekly 60-minute group counseling sessions at local recovery centers, focusing on evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), coping skills, parenting classes, anger management, and feelings groups. Our sessions are designed to create a supportive environment where participants can share their experiences, learn from one another, and gain valuable insights into their recovery process.

THE LONGTERM PLAN:

In the future, we plan to expand our operations to include a dedicated facility that will serve as a sanctuary for both pets and people. This facility will feature a holistic pet care center, a training space for vocational programs, and areas for counseling and support groups. We envision a place where participants can live and work alongside the animals they are helping to rehabilitate, creating a therapeutic environment that accelerates healing for both.

More than a nonprofit:

Addicted 2 Pets is more than a nonprofit; it’s a movement towards holistic healing, a testament to the transformative power of love, and a commitment to creating a better future for pets and people alike. Together, we are redefining what recovery can look like and building a compassionate community where everyone has the chance to heal, grow, and thrive.

RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT PAWS:

One of our foundational goals is to educate and raise awareness about Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS), a condition that can linger long after the initial detox phase of recovery. PAWS can make the road to sobriety incredibly challenging, with symptoms like anxiety, mood swings, and difficulty concentrating. Through workshops, support groups, and educational materials, we help individuals understand and manage these symptoms, providing them with tools for long-term recovery.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING & JOB OPPORTUNITIES:

Addicted 2 Pets goes beyond traditional rehabilitation by providing vocational training programs. We believe in the power of purposeful work and skill-building as a form of healing. Our participants, who are in recovery, receive hands-on training in pet grooming, kennel care, and dog braining (training). By the end of the program, they are equipped with the skills needed to find meaningful employment, either at Wags 2 Whiskers or with our partners in the pet care industry.

BUILDING A NETWORK OF SUPPORT:

Our vision is to create a strong network of support that extends beyond our organization. We collaborate with local shelters, recovery centers, and community organizations to provide comprehensive services. By partnering with these entities, we aim to increase our reach, helping more individuals and pets find the healing they need.

Educational outreach & advocacy:

Education is key to our mission. We aim to develop a comprehensive outreach program that includes workshops, online resources, and community events to educate the public about the importance of holistic pet care, the challenges of PAWS, and the benefits of animal-assisted therapy in recovery.
