How a hospital-grade ingredient (that your pet’s body naturally makes) became our cleaning secret.

Welcome to a New Kind of Clean
Where your pet’s skin, paws, and lungs aren’t just along for the ride, they’re cared for with purpose, protected with intention, and nurtured every step of the way.

When we began building Wags 2 Whiskers, we asked a simple but serious question:
If we claim to love our pets like family, shouldn’t our cleaning habits reflect that love?

The more we explored the industry standard, the more disturbed we became.

From harsh disinfectants to overpowering “fresh” scents, traditional cleaning practices in grooming salons, boarding spaces, and even vet offices often rely on chemistry that prioritizes sterility over safety. Yes, we all want to kill germs, but not at the expense of our pet’s skin, paws, respiratory system, or nervous system.

So we took a step back and asked, “What if our clean could be just as effective but biologically safe?”

That one question changed everything.

💡 What’s Wrong With Traditional Pet Care Cleaners?

Many cleaners used in pet care facilities are marketed as “pet-safe,” but when you flip the label or look into their ingredients, here’s what you’ll often find:

❌ Ammonia and Bleach — Strong disinfectants that release fumes and can cause respiratory irritation, eye redness, and chronic lung issues over time

❌ Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (Quats) — Found in many commercial cleaners and linked to hormone disruption, skin dryness, and allergies

❌ Artificial Fragrances and Dyes — Sensory irritants that can cause sneezing, itching, or more severe reactions

❌ Residue Buildup — Pets groom themselves by licking their paws, fur, and bedding. Whatever is on the floor—or the surfaces they touch—is making its way into their body

It may look clean and smell clean, but it might not be truly clean in the way nature intended.

That didn’t sit right with us.

🧴 Meet Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl): Nature’s Own Germ-Fighter

Enter hypochlorous acid, a big name for something small, gentle, and incredibly powerful.

HOCl is a compound your pet’s body (and yours) naturally produces to fight infection. It’s made inside the white blood cells of all mammals and used by the immune system to neutralize bacteria and viruses.

So when we discovered that hypochlorous acid could be stabilized and used for cleaning, we were all in.

We now use HOCl to clean every inch of our facility:

• Daycare floors

• Grooming tubs

• Crates and bedding

• Toys, water bowls, food prep areas

• And yes, even around eyes, wounds, and noses. It’s that safe.

💡 Why We Chose Hypochlorous Acid Over Everything Else

We don’t believe in doing something just because it’s trendy. We believe in doing what works—and what aligns with nature.

Here’s why HOCl is our gold standard for clean:

✔ Clinically proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and fungi
✔ Non-toxic and free from synthetic scents, alcohols, or harsh chemicals
✔ Residue-free, meaning nothing left behind for your pet to absorb or ingest
✔ Safe for daily use, even in high-touch zones like grooming stations and food prep areas

How We Knew It Was Working: Our Pets Told Us
Before bringing it into our facility, we tested it at home.

We sprayed cour floors, counters, litter boxes, crates, and even misted our sensitive-skinned pup, Chata, after walks.

What we saw:

✅ Less paw licking

✅ No more red bellies

✅ Fewer sneezes from our cats

A peaceful, neutral scent instead of artificial lemon or fake “fresh”

It wasn’t just a switch, it felt like an exhale.
Not just from us. From them.
Our pets relaxed. The energy shifted. Our home felt lighter.

And that’s when we knew: this wasn’t just a better option.
It was the only option we could stand behind.

🌿 Holistic Cleanliness Means Energetic Cleanliness Too

At Wags 2 Whiskers, Holistify isn’t just about food or spa-style baths. It’s about creating an environment that supports healing at every level.

We don’t want pets just to look good—we want them to feel deeply safe, calm, and cared for. That starts at the cellular level, and yes, it includes how we clean.

Our hypochlorous-based cleaning approach supports your pet’s:

✔️ Immune system by reducing daily toxin exposure

✔️ Skin and coat health by avoiding harsh residues

✔️ Respiratory system by clearing the air of irritants

✔️ Emotional wellness by creating a scent-free, calming space without chemical stressors

True cleanliness isn’t just about killing germs.
It’s about removing what doesn’t belong—and honoring what does.

📣 Curious What Else Makes Our Space Feel So Grounded?
Hypochlorous acid is just the beginning.
We’ve also replaced synthetic turf and plastic play areas with earthing floors that help pets release built-up static energy and connect with the Earth’s natural frequency.
