What Is Earthing Play and Why Is It Part of Daycare at W2W?
If you’ve seen the flooring at Wags 2 Whiskers, you may have noticed that it’s different from a typical daycare floor.
That’s our Earthing Play system.
It’s part of the environment we’ve created for dogs at W2W, and dogs use the flooring throughout their daycare and boarding experience.
But what exactly is Earthing Play?
What Is Earthing Play?
Earthing Play is an indoor flooring system designed around the idea of connecting pets with the earth’s natural energy.
Think about a dog playing outside at the park or walking along the beach. They’re naturally in contact with the ground while they move, explore, and rest.
Earthing Play brings that idea into an indoor pet care environment.
At W2W, dogs can play, move, and rest on the Earthing Play flooring during their time with us.
It’s Part of the Day, Not Just a Feature
We don’t treat Earthing Play as something dogs only interact with for a few minutes.
It’s part of the daycare and boarding environment.
Dogs use the flooring while they’re moving around, playing with other dogs, participating in enrichment, and settling down to rest.
That means it’s simply part of their day at W2W.
What About Cats?
Cats have their own setup.
Our feline guests do not use the Earthing Play flooring designed for the dogs. Instead, they have earthing mats in their dedicated areas, including inside and outside their kitty condos.
Their space also includes areas for climbing, resting, and exploring.
We keep the setup different because dogs and cats experience their environments differently.
Why We Chose Earthing Play
For us, the idea behind Earthing Play fits naturally with the way we think about pet care.
Pets spend a lot of time interacting with the surfaces around them. They walk, run, lie down, play, and rest on those surfaces.
So when we were creating our daycare and boarding environment, the floor was something we wanted to think about, too.
It’s not just what’s happening during play. It’s also what pets are experiencing underneath their paws throughout the day.
Part of a Bigger Approach
Earthing Play is just one part of the environment at Wags 2 Whiskers.
There’s also the water pets drink, the way we clean the space, the time they have for enrichment and rest, and the way our team interacts with them.
None of these things exists completely on its own.
They all contribute to the environment pets experience while they’re here.
