When you drop your pet off at daycare, you probably wonder what happens after you leave.

Do they play the whole time? Do they get a chance to rest? What happens when they need a break?

At Wags 2 Whiskers, daycare isn’t built around keeping pets busy from the moment they arrive until the moment they go home.

We make room for play, enrichment, and rest throughout the day.

A Day Built Around More Than Play

Our daytime daycare routine follows a recycle that gives pets different ways to spend their time.

There is time for social play, followed by enrichment, and then time to rest in a nap pod.

Social play gives dogs an opportunity to interact and move.

Enrichment gives them something different to focus on. Depending on the activity, this can include puzzles, sniffing, sit-and-stay work, or one-on-one time with a team member.

Then comes rest.

Because sometimes, the best thing a pet can do after an active period is settle down and take a break.

Play Happens on Earthing Play

Dogs spend their daycare time on our Earthing Play flooring.

It’s an indoor grounding floor designed for pets to play, move, and rest on. It brings the idea of being connected to the earth into the daycare environment.

Cats have a different setup. They stay in their own separate area and use earthing mats rather than the dog Earthing Play flooring.

Enrichment Doesn’t Always Mean More Activity

When people hear “enrichment,” they might picture another game or another activity.

But enrichment can be pretty simple.

A puzzle that makes a dog think. Time to sniff and explore. Practicing a familiar behavior. A little one-on-one attention from a team member.

Sometimes it’s about giving a dog something to think about rather than simply giving them more physical activity.

Rest Is Part of the Day

It’s easy to think of daycare as a place where pets should be active all day.

We see it differently.

Pets need time to settle, too.

Our daycare routine includes dedicated nap time so pets have an opportunity to rest between periods of play and enrichment.

That helps create a day with some rhythm to it instead of one long stretch of activity.

Daycare Is Part of the Bigger Picture

For us, daycare is not just about providing a place for pets to spend the day.

It’s about the experience they have while they’re here.

The environment. The activities. The people caring for them. The opportunity to play. The opportunity to rest.

Those pieces work together.

And that’s what we want pet parents to know when they leave their pets with us: their day is more than just time away from home.

It’s time to play, explore, rest, and be cared for.
